ELLIPSIS

Ellipsis is an interpretation of the evolutionary processes in nature, and the patterns that emerge as a result. While not trying to offer literal descriptions of specific natural forms, it uses repetition and growth to reference the incredible structures found in the natural world, creating a form which exhibits a sense of elegance – simple elements arranged to create a complex form.

It aims to engage and engender a sense of wonder and
surprise, as the sculpture appears to change dramatically depending upon one’s viewpoint, and its polished, stainless steel surface adds to its transformative nature by reflecting any and all ambient light.

The sculptures that George Andric creates are explicitly functions of geometry, while operating within a sculptural vocabulary based on abstraction. They are made up of an arrangement of basic units, allowing him to examine the dynamic relationship between the simple and the complex, between the material and the void, and particularly between structure and form. It reflects an abiding interest and fascination with the nature of perception and the relationship of the work to the body of the viewer.
