NEST

THIS SCULPTURE WAS CREATED BY THE KANGAROO ISLAND COMMUNITY

Special thanks to these local artists and community members who project managed, collected and assembled:

Ria Byass, Prue Coulls, Janine Mackintosh, Deb Sleeman, Kenita Williamson and welding by Dylan Harris

The NEST is made from Welded Steel and Natural Elements.

It is through the coming and going that a bird creates a nest, a shelter to protect the egg, a space to feed the offspring, a safe haven before spreading wings to fly. In many ways, Kangaroo Island is a nest-of-sorts where humans have the opportunity to reconnect with their own inner birdsong.

This woven creation was pieced together by the attendees of the 2021 Wildlife Carnival. We invite you to add to it as you feel inspired.
