BATHED IN HISTORY

This sculpture was constructed from salvaged metal which was sourced from historic farms from the Dudley Peninsula. Farms include the Bates, Howard, Wilson, and Willson families. This birdbath is a piece of Kangaroo Island history.

Phil Baines made Kangaroo Island his home. His sculpture medium is Kangaroo Island sourced metal. He has been practicing sculpting for 30 years and has exhibited at the National Wine Centre and in the local Kangaroo Island Fine Arts Gallery.

Examples of Phil’s art can be seen at the Penneshaw Hotel, Kangaroo Island Shores Caravan Park and The Penneshaw Seafront Resort. Phil is often contacted for private commissions and some pieces have travels as far as Russia and America .

Phil says, “My intention is to show the beauty of the ocean creatures to inspire people to help protect our seas . My art can be viewed on my FB and instagram pages @philbainesmetalsculpture”.

This sculpture was made possible by generous donations from Kangaroo Island Sculpture Trail Trailblazer Jill Gloyne and Phil Baines.
